It's only been three months since
Amber Heard came out of the closet, but she's been dating photographer
Tasya van Ree since 2008. The
Drive Angry 3D star admits in a new interview with
New York magazine that she doesn't like talking about her personal life, but explains her attitude about the situation.
"It is frustrating because I don't label myself one way or another," she said. "For example, I've had amazing, successful relationships with men, and now I have an amazing, successful relationship with a woman, and the bottom line is I love who I love. I don't have to answer to anyone for it. I love who I love, and I am who I am."
Amber, a native Texan, stars as tough-talking road warrior Piper alongside Nicolas Cage in
Drive Angry, which opens this weekend. For Amber, who owns a .357 Magnum and a 1968 Ford Mustang, playing a gun-toting muscle car junkie isn't much of a stretch.
"I grew up in Texas, and people love their American-made muscle cars there," she said. "I grew up around people who loved cars and took care of cars and my dad's a big car nut, so I learned a little bit about cars -- how to love them, most importantly. I think that from the time I could remember, I've always envisioned myself in a vintage muscle car."
